September has arrived, and as summer fades into fall I’ve been reminiscing about some of my favourite moments this summer. In staff meeting at work, we were asked to share our favourite 45 minutes of the summer and I found this task to be really hard, because there were a lot of really great moments. This was a great exercise for me, because in the business of life you can forget all the blessings that you’ve been given. Here are a few of my favourite moments:
The Women’s World Cup was in Canada this year!!!!!! As a soccer player and avid soccer fan, this was SO MUCH FUN. My brother, dad and I went to watch the Canadian team play England. The result was a little sad, but it was so cool to see Christine Sinclair play her last international match.
For my dear friend Marie’s bachelorette, we went to Bowen Island to laze around on the beach and party it up. This was an epic weekend of feasting on crab, soaking in sun and playing in the phosphorescents! What a magical trip with these ladies.
This was the summer of weddings. Our friends Brenda and Justin got married first and we were SO ecstatic for them! With every wedding, a good dance party is needed and this one didn’t disappoint.
Classic besties. xxoo
Can’t stop our dance fever.
Marie’s wedding was second up. Her wedding was possibly the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been too. I was honoured to get to play the mandolin and sing for Marie and Dustin and it was amazing to see a long time dream come true for my friend.
Dustin and Marie got married at the Cheakamus Centre in Squamish. What a perfect location!
Last up was Jeff and Alex’s wedding. This required a road trip to my home town and it was amazing to see one of my oldest friends (Jeff) tie the knot. The forest fires this year have been out of control, but they do make for some pretty amazing sunsets.
Krys and I reverted to 15 year olds and screamed and danced our butts off at the T Swift concert this summer. I don’t care what people say, Tay Tay puts on an epic show. Shake it off man.
Don’t worry Taylor, we’ll dance with you.
It has become a yearly tradition to go to the Lynden Fair in Washington with our group of friends. This year Kristina convinced me to go on some rides, and although they are truly sketchy, this was SUCH a fun time. How can you go wrong with fair food, rides and a DJ dance party to cap off the night?
The other thing I was blessed to get to do this summer was wake surfing and wake boarding. My friend Kevin is one of the best teachers I know and there is nothing he loves more than getting out on the water. He taught me every (minimal) thing I know about this epic sport. We also went boat camping, which I have to say is a whole new level of awesome when it comes to camping spots.
I hope ya’ll have had an amazing summer. Now it’s time to look forward to everything pumpkin and wearing plaid. Until next time.
